At a ribbon-cutting on Wednesday, executives of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, Capital One and TAV Operations Services celebrated the completion of an 8,500-square-foot Capital One Lounge constructed at the base of Washington Dulles International Airport’s historic Air Traffic Control Tower. The Capital One lounge officially opens to customers Thursday, September 7.

“Congratulations to Tysons-based Capital One for opening a lounge in its hometown airport,” said Jack Potter, president and CEO of the Airports Authority. “This new lounge at Dulles International is the culmination of great work to curate a customized space inspired by the airport’s world-famous mid-century modern architectural style. It’s the latest in a series of new amenities to provide a superior airport experience for our passengers.”

Located just beyond TSA PreCheck between the East and West security checkpoints on the Ticketing Level, the lounge is designed to fit the unique needs of the IAD traveler. The front of the lounge offers healthy grab-and-go food options like jarred salads, granola bowls, and fresh juices – all packaged sustainably — to keep travelers refueled during transit, and a full-service coffee and pastry bar for travelers stopping by for a quick visit on the way to their gate. For travelers with more time to spare, the lounge interior features a suite of premium amenities and seating, ample workspaces, a parent room, and delicious, health-conscious in-lounge food served plated as small bites and a full-service bar.

“We created the Capital One Lounge at Dulles Airport with the goal of providing a differentiated airport lounge experience and for us this means catering to a more diverse group of travelers and traveler needs while at the same time incorporating authentically local touches throughout,” said Jenn Scheurich, Vice President, Head of Capital One Travel. “Thanks to our partnership with MWAA and TAV, we are thrilled to bring this unique lounge experience to IAD as part of our ongoing effort to set a new standard for the modern lounge experience and provide a better end to end travel journey for our customers.”

“We teamed up with Capital One at Dulles Airport and are thrilled to be in the core of this great lounge project,” said Güclü Batkın, CEO of TAV Operation Services. ”We are ready to bring our global expertise and know-how to provide the best ever lounge experience to Capital One customers here at Dulles Airport.”

Capital One welcomes ticketed travelers who have a boarding pass for a departing or connecting same-day flight to its network of airport lounges within three hours of scheduled departure. Access policies are posted at https://capitalonetravel.com/lounges/capital-one-lounges.

In addition to the lounge at Dulles, Capital One is developing Capital One Landing at Reagan National Airport, a new culinary-focused concept that will include a food and beverage menu designed by the award-winning José Andrés Group. An opening date has not yet been scheduled.
