Washington Dulles International Airport is celebrating its 60th Anniversary this year, and the Airports Authority is honored to celebrate along with our customers and airport community. Since opening on November 17, 1962, Dulles grew from serving over 54,800 travelers in its first year to over 23 million per year today. Growing from six airlines in 1962 to 34 airlines today, Dulles offers flights to over 130 nonstop destinations in the United States and globally.

The 60th Anniversary is a celebration of the airport's history. Visitors can stroll the indoor walkway from Parking Garage 1 and view historical photos and exhibits along the way. Anniversary displays around the airport include historic photos, timelines and a large photo of airport employees forming the number "60" near the Main Terminal.
