Customs & Immigration

Customs and Immigration at Dulles InternationalAll arriving international passengers and luggage, with the exception of those arriving from pre-cleared points of origin, must be screened by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Make sure to collect all of your luggage before exiting the CBP facility; re-entry is not allowed. Passengers connecting to another flight will need to re-check their luggage and go through screening by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Passengers ending their journey in Washington D.C. will exit onto the Terminal Arrivals Level - Baggage Claim.Expedited Customs Screening EligibilityDulles has advanced technology to speed Customs screening. Click the options highlighted below in blue for more information: Global Entry – $100 enrollment fee. Apply to CBP well in advance of travel. Approved members scan their passport and fingerprint at dedicated kiosks for expedited Customs' processing. U.S. citizens, permanent residents and citizens of a few foreign nations (see website) are eligible. Global Entry members are also eligible to participate in TSA Pre-check for no additional fee.For passengers not eligible for these programs, simply proceed with your passport to a US Customs Officer for processing.Enrollment on Arrival (EoA)Enrollment on Arrival (EoA) is CBP program that allows Global Entry applicants who are conditionally approved to complete their interviews upon arrival into the United States; including those entering the United States via a designated CBP Preclearance location. The EoA program eliminates the need for a Global Entry applicant to schedule an interview at an enrollment center to complete the application process.  When landing in an international terminal follow the signage directing you to CBP officers who can complete your Global Entry interview during your admissibility inspection. If you require assistance for your Global Entry interview because of a disability, immediately inform the interviewing CBP officer of your need for a reasonable modification or auxiliary aid or service to participate in the interview. For your planning purposes, please understand that if you use EoA and are requesting a modification, aid, or service at that time and an effective modification, aid, or service is not readily available, the interview may be scheduled for a later date.To complete the interview via EoA, you must be in possession of the following documents:A valid passport. If you travel using more than one passport, please bring them all to the interview so that the information can be added to your file. Documents providing evidence of residency. Examples are: driver's license (if the address is current), mortgage statement, rental payment statement, utility bill, etc. This is not required for minors.A permanent resident card (if applicable).Enrollment on DepartureEnrollment on Departure is available for conditionally approved Global Entry applicants departing on an international flight from Washington Dulles International Airport.  CBP's Enrollment on Departure is located in the B Concourse, across from Gate B41.  The office is open from 12 PM until 8 PM each day.  Conditionally approved applicants should arrive earlier to Dulles Airport to allow ample time to complete this interview process before their international flight departs. In addition to the travel document, such as passport, the conditionally approved applicant will need a physical document providing evidence of residency, for example a driver's license, mortgage statement, rental payment statement, utility bill, or other document that shows a current address. This is not required for minors. Interested applicants will also need to possess an airline ticket proving their international flight.Enrollment on Departure is not available for travelers departing Dulles Airport on domestic flights.Meeting International PassengersDulles International provides a waiting area immediately outside the International Arrivals Building in the Terminal near Baggage Claim 15  / International Arrivals.
