FINDING OF NO SIGNIFICANT IMPACT FOR Replacement Access for Sully Historic Site and for Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority's Southern Parcel
The Virginia Department of Transportation is proposing to construct a new access road for the Sully Historic Site in Fairfax County. The new access, from the Route 28 interchange with Air and Space Museum Parkway, would replace the current at-grade intersection on Route 28 at the entrance to the Sully Historic Site, and would be located in part on Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) property. IAD is operated by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA). The project also includes a replacement access to the MWAA parcel immediately south of the Sully Historic Site. The access road to the MWAA Southern Parcel would be built by MWAA, and would involve an exchange of right-of-way easements between MWAA and the Fairfax County Park Authority.
In conformance with the provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act, an Environmental Assessment (EA) was prepared. After careful consideration of the information contained in the Final EA, the Federal Aviation Administration has determined that significant environmental effects will not result from the proposed action. Therefore, the FAA has issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI).
