Airline and airport executives, staff and special guests gathered Thursday at Dulles International Airport to celebrate the launch of Swiss International Air Lines’ nonstop service between Washington, D.C., and Zurich, Switzerland, on an Airbus A330-300.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced Wednesday 15 new concessions will begin the construction process at Reagan National Airport and Dulles International Airport in 2024. These food, beverage and retail brands represent the latest awards of a multi-year program to redevelop more than 80 concessions at both airports.

The Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority hosted 50.6 million total passengers in 2023, setting a new travel record at Reagan National and Dulles International airports. This achievement was driven by strong demand at both airports, resulting in a new passenger record at Reagan National and an international passenger record at Dulles International.

With passenger activity levels rising in 2023, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is preparing for significant travel through Washington’s airports in the coming weeks. During peak times around holidays from Veterans Day through New Year's Day, passengers may experience heavily congested airport-area roads, limited parking availability and bustling terminals.
